Was born Maher Tabbara (Malakii) in Beirut, Lebanon on March 4th, 1966 the youngest out of 5 boys. He studied in High School during the civil war at MAR ELIAS BTINA and in December 1984 he left on a scholarship with the Hariri Foundation to the United States where he studied music theory and composition at the University of Arizona and the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. Malakii immigrated to Canada in August 1988, where he has been directing music to film for 20 years, and has produced a feature film, 12 documentaries, film shorts, music videos, and commercials.

From the age of 8 until the age of 18, from 1975 to 1984 Malakii wrote over 300 poems, and some of his best lyrics were written when he was younger than 18 years of age. Malakii started painting when he was in his 30’s, and you can see some of his art at Tabbara Inc. However, some passions are never meant to sleep forever, and so Malakii is back in the music scene writing lyrics and music.

"Afaf", Malakii’s first album, was dedicated to his mother after 16 years of separation from her. The album contains 11 songs, with lyrics and some music written by Malakii. Malakii brings to the Middle East a new flair of songs, that are different in music, lyrics, and voice.
